Cd Rom Drive Troubleshooting

There could be a number of aspects due to which your CD ROM stops working. The reasons and ways to solve those problems are discussed below.

Lenses are expired:
This is the most common problem that happens to most of the CD ROM Drives when they stop working properly. There could be a number of reasons why it is destroyed or it stopped working. You can do nothing about this. All we can do is to replace the CD ROM Drive in this case.

The question that how would you know about if the lens is not working properly or there is some other problem? So, when the lens is starting to destroy, you will feel problems like not reading the contents of the disk properly when there is not scratch on the disk and other such problems. Eventually, it will stop working and the lens will destroy completely.

Dust on the lenses:
Another common problem occurs when the lens is covered by dust. It also shows the same symptoms like when the lenses started to get destroyed. There is a solution to this problem. There are a number of CDs available in the market known as CD Lens cleaner. You can use them to testify if the lenses are covered with dust or not. If it is covered with dust, then the problem will be solved with this. Whatever you do, just do not try these lenses cleaner on new CD ROM drives. The reason is that they might put a scratch on the lens.

Door of CD ROM does not open:
Some dust or garbage is stuck in the gears of the CD ROM drive which causes this problem. There is a hole in the CD ROM drives that can be used to open the drive in situations like these. You just have to insert some pin in that hole and that would open the CD ROM for you.

Nice application. Normally I'm pretty picky about what applications I put on my PC, but I am glad I took the chance on this one. The option to manually delete entries is great for IT professionals like myself. Keep up the good work.
