Disk Defragment Tool

If you do not know about the internal parts of the computer and the things that are associated with the storing and retrieving methods, you might have worried about a file’s size. It appears like some bytes originally and another place shows its size on disk.

Actually when you store something on your hard disk, it is stored to all places that are available on the hard disk. When you delete something from your hard disk, it gets removed from the middle portion. Again when you are copying something on the hard disk, it will get written somewhere on the free space that we allocated due to the deletion of the files that you just deleted and the rest of the data will be written after the next patch of data.

So, when the data is being written patch by patch, it will also have to store the next address of the data. The free spaces on the hard disk are so small and in such a large number that even a data of 10 mb can be stored in 20 mb sometimes.

What does disk defragment do? Disk defragment basically collects all data from the fragments of the same file and merges them up to store them on a free space of disk. Hence, the file size will occupy the actual size of the file. Just go to start menu of your windows and see the menu of system tools under programs and you will find this tool.

Benefits: The major benefit of this tool is that it will decrease the size of file or it will store the file to its actual size. The data that you are storing on the hard disk will be retrieved easily by the computer. Limitations: Disk defragment toll will take several hours to get completed. You should not discontinue or cancel the defragment process, it can cause a number of problems for the operating system and hence your computer might crash.

Nice application. Normally I'm pretty picky about what applications I put on my PC, but I am glad I took the chance on this one. The option to manually delete entries is great for IT professionals like myself. Keep up the good work.
